Statement of Problem

We are concerned if we are using the correct seeding rates for our winter wheat in Central Kansas.

Project Objectives

This is a continuation of the work we did  in 2004 -- merely adding "site years" to our data base.

Methodology

We have seeded wheat at Base rate, Base rate + 25% and Base rate + 50% on several passes when planting in the fall of 2004.  (Base Rate = 800,000 + 1/2% per day after Oct. 10.)  All other cultural practices are to remain the same.  After harvesting with a yield monitor  and AutoTrac equipped combine, we will select harvest strips with differing seeding rates for analysis.  Further analysis will be done based on KSU researcher's suggestions.

Expected outcome / Benefit to KARA
To demonstrate a simple method of doing on Farm research with tools already available to Precision Ag practitioners.
