Statement of Problem

We are concerned if we are using the correct seeding rates for dryland, no till soybeans in Central Kansas.

Project Objectives

This is a continuation of the work we did  in 2004 -- merely adding "site years" to our data base.

Methodology

We will seed at Base rate, Base rate + 25%, Base rate + 50% and Base rate - 25% on several passes when planting in the spring of 2005.  (Base Rate = 140,000.)  All other cultural practices are to remain the same.  After harvesting with a yield monitor  and AutoTrac equipped combine, we will select harvest strips with differing seeding rates for analysis.  Further analysis will be done based on KSU researcher's suggestions.  Planting with Air Seeder.

Expected outcome / Benefit to KARA
To demonstrate a simple method of doing on Farm research with tools already available to Precision Ag practitioners.
